Anna Vomacka is a dance maker / performer & yoga practitioner / teacher. She received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance from The Ohio State University (OSU) in May 2017, and completed her 200-hour Certified Yoga Teacher Training in June 2018 with Sondra Loring of Sadhana Yoga, Hudson, NY. While at OSU Anna worked with choreographer Bebe Miller on the creation of two original works. Anna’s choreographies explore idiosyncratic-difference and intersect with her commitment to social justice and community development. For her graduating capstone project Anna worked closely with former Trisha Brown dancer Vicky Shick on a recreation of Brown’s “Glacial Decoy” (1979). Anna was privileged to be a performer in Gerard & Kelly’s Bessie Award winning instillation Timelining, which premiered at NYC’s The Kitchen in 2014 and later performed at the Guggenheim Museum, NYC in 2015. Anna performed in Mei Yamanaka “If You, Then There” (2019) and currently works with Nami Yamamoto. Anna is a recipient of the Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX) Alumni Space Grant for Winter/Spring 2019. Anna began her dance training at Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX). She went on to study at Mark Morris Dance Center, Joffrey Ballet, and with Christine Wright at Gibney Dance. Prior to attending OSU, Anna studied at the Isadora Duncan Center in Prague, Czech Republic, where in addition to ballet and modern she learned Lidovky, traditional Czech folk dance.
